Hot-air balloon coloring page
- Vehicles
- Tracing Practice
- Free
A balloon with vertical panels and a wicker basket below, drawn in dashes with the ropes as dotted lines. The panels are the tracing exercise: eight long curves that all have to meet at the top.
Color by number version
A color by number version of the same subject, with 17 numbered areas and a key of 6 crayon colors. Each number sits inside its area, never on a line, and the key prints beneath the picture on the same sheet — so it still prints in black and white.

How to color the Hot-air balloon coloring page
Eight long curves that all have to arrive at the same point is harder than it sounds, so give the child permission to miss before they start: a panel that lands slightly off still reads as a balloon, because the eye forgives a curve far more readily than a straight line. Rotate the paper for each panel so every curve is drawn away from the body. The basket and ropes afterwards are quick, and by then the difficult part is behind them.
