Stegosaurus with plates coloring page
- Dinosaurs
- Classroom Poster
- Free
A stegosaurus in profile with two rows of back plates, each one outlined on its own. A dozen plates in a row are an invitation to make a pattern — alternate two colors, or run a gradient from nose to tail.
Color by number version
A color by number version of the same subject, with 7 numbered areas and a key of 3 crayon colors. Each number sits inside its area, never on a line, and the key prints beneath the picture on the same sheet — so it still prints in black and white.

How to color the Stegosaurus with plates coloring page
Count the plates before starting — there are twelve, and knowing the number changes how a child plans the page. Two colours taken in turn is the simplest pattern that still looks deliberate; running one colour from pale at the nose to dark at the tail is harder and worth trying once the alternating version is familiar. Because each plate is closed and small, this is also a page that survives being put down mid-way: the next plate is always an obvious place to restart.
