Steam train coloring page
- Vehicles
- Classroom Poster
- Free
A steam locomotive pulling one carriage, with spoked driving wheels, a funnel and coupling rods drawn in. Plenty of mechanical detail — this is the vehicle page for a child who has outgrown the easy sheets.
Color by number version
A color by number version of the same subject, with 22 numbered areas and a key of 6 crayon colors. Each number sits inside its area, never on a line, and the key prints beneath the picture on the same sheet — so it still prints in black and white.

How to color the Steam train coloring page
Leave the coupling rods until the very end and give them a single flat metal grey. They cross in front of the wheels, so anything done to them earlier gets coloured over, and they are the part that tells the eye the wheels turn. The spoked wheels want a fine tip rather than a crayon. Nothing is drawn coming out of the funnel, which is deliberate — smoke added in pencil afterwards is one of the few additions this page genuinely invites.
