Number train with carriages coloring page
- Numbers
- Classroom Poster
- Free
A steam train pulling four carriages numbered 1 to 4, drawn bold enough to read across a room. The carriages are identical boxes, so the numerals are the only thing telling them apart — color them differently and the order becomes visible.
Color by number version
A color by number version of the same subject, with 10 numbered areas and a key of 4 crayon colors. Each number sits inside its area, never on a line, and the key prints beneath the picture on the same sheet — so it still prints in black and white.

How to color the Number train with carriages coloring page
Colour the four carriages in four clearly different colours, then cut them apart and hand them over shuffled. Putting the train back in order with nothing to go on but the numerals is a harder task than colouring it and takes about a minute, and it is the only activity in this topic that has a wrong answer a child can check for themselves. Keep the engine one colour so it stays obviously the front.
