Turn a Photo into a Color by Number Page
A color by number page is a line drawing in which every closed area carries a small number, and a key on the same sheet says which crayon goes with each one. ColoriZoo makes one from your own photo in two moves: the photo becomes a coloring page, then you add the numbers to it. The paper still prints in plain black and white — the colors live in the key, and the child puts them on the page.

Two steps, one sheet of paper.

Upload a photo and choose Easy Coloring. Numbering needs solid outlines and large shapes, which is exactly what that style draws. Classroom Poster works too; Tracing Practice does not, because its dashed lines leave no closed areas.

When the page is ready, press Add numbers. ColoriZoo finds every closed area, works out where a number fits without touching a line, and picks its color from a colored preview of the same page.

Print. The numbers sit inside the drawing and the key prints beneath it on the same sheet, so an ordinary black-and-white printer is all you need.
Photos that make a good color by number page
Numbering needs room. The photos that make a clean beginner page are the ones that make a clean numbered page.
- One clear subject, close enough to fill the frame. A pet, a face, a favorite toy — big shapes get big numbers a child can read at arm’s length.
- A plain background. Grass, sky or a wall becomes a few large areas; a cluttered room becomes dozens of tiny ones that cannot hold a number.
- Even light without hard shadows. Deep shadows turn into extra outlines, and every extra outline splits an area in two.
How the numbers are placed
A number in the wrong place is worse than no number, so the rules are strict.
- Each number sits at the widest point of its area, never on a line. Its size follows the room available: big areas get big numbers, small areas get smaller ones that still print at a readable size.
- Two areas that touch never share a number. If they did, a child would color straight across the line between them and the shape would vanish.
- At most nine colors — red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple, pink, brown and skin — the ones in any crayon box. The key names each one, so nothing has to be guessed from a swatch.
When a page cannot be numbered
Some pages come back with a note instead of numbers. That happens when the outlines are too open for the areas to be told apart, or when there are too few large areas to be worth numbering — a portrait drawn as loose hair strokes, say, or a picture whose whole subject is one shape. ColoriZoo would rather say so than place numbers it is not sure about, because a child who follows a wrong number colors the wrong thing. Making the page again in Easy Coloring, or starting from a photo with a plainer background, usually fixes it.
Printing the sheet
The numbered page and its key export together as a PDF or a PNG, on A4 or US Letter, or print straight from the browser. Everything is black and white, so any printer will do. The key is laid out to be read from across a table: a swatch, the number and the color’s name. The plain coloring page stays available next to it, so you can print both versions from the same result.

Common questions
Does the AI draw the numbers?
No. The artwork itself never contains lettering or numbers — digits drawn by an image model come out as scribbles. The numbers are added afterwards, on top of the finished outlines, so every digit is crisp and sits exactly where it should.
Which style should I pick for a color by number page?
Easy Coloring. Its outlines are solid and its shapes are large, which is what numbering needs. Classroom Poster works as well. Tracing Practice pages are drawn with dashed lines, so their areas are not closed and cannot be numbered.
How are the colors chosen?
From a colored preview of your own page. Each numbered area takes the crayon color closest to what that part of the picture looks like, so a brown dog is numbered brown and a blue sky blue. If that preview cannot be made, the numbers are not added.
Does adding numbers cost anything?
No. It is part of every page and does not count against your free pages for the day. There is no account to create, and downloads carry no watermark.
Can I make a color by number page from a description instead of a photo?
Yes. A page made from a typed description gets the same Add numbers button, as long as it uses the Easy Coloring or Classroom Poster style.
